No matter what a toddler's parent does, Barney is inescapable. No matter how cringingly irritating adults find Barney's goofy voice, he captivates his youthful audience. Barney's Rhyme Time Rhythm is no exception. The video's setting finds a frustrated Emily trying to pen a poem for school. Stepping in to help are the magical purple dinosaur and a host of friends, including Mother Goose herself. The video is an effective introduction to Mother Goose rhymes, songs, and stories (which, mercifully, are not rewritten in typical Barney fashion). As in most Barney fare, there's an emphasis on cheerfulness, creativeness, friendship, and affection. It's nice that the basic premise encourages children to read and write--especially their own rhymes. The many songs include "Did You Ever See a Lassie?" as well as "London Bridge," "Humpty Dumpty," "Baa Baa Black Sheep," "Little Boy Blue," "Little Bo Peep," "The House That Jack Built," "Little Miss Muffet," "Three Little Kittens," "The Old Lady in the Shoe," and "Old King Cole." (Ages 2 and older) --N.F. Mendoza

5 out of 5 stars A Barney "Must Have"   March 2, 2001

If you're torturing yourself over which Barney DVD to choose, stop here. This rendition of Mother Goose introduces a large number of rhymes and songs with a truly wonderful actress as Mother Goose and a magical set with real storybook quality props. My daughter adores this one and is constantly singing and dancing the many numbers from the disc. My only complaint is that in the opening scene, one of the kids is trying to write rhymes and was crumpling up sheets of paper and tossing them on the floor in frustration. My daughter started trying to do this and we had to tell her that this was a naughty thing to do and that Barney forgot to point it out.

My eighteen month old daughter loves Barney and this video is among the best. Entertaining and makes nursery rhymes come alive. I would highly recommend it, along with Barney's Super Singing Circus.

I have a 14 month old son who not only loves watching it but dances to some of the best rhymes in it. We can easily make him to have his meals by just playing it. Must buy for all parents! Great video and audio quality.

My 11 month old was glued to the screen from the start - he squeals in delight, dances along and waves his arms in excitement when he watches. You want to get him to sit down quietly for a few minutes, take his medication without a fuss - you name it - just pop this DVD in and you're good to go! I'd recommend this to any parent. I can't imagine a kid who'd fail to be captivated by the delightful setting, the songs, the rhymes and the characters of "Barney's Rhyme time Rhythm"

This is by far my 22 month old daughters favorite DVD. We have Wiggles, Backyardigans and other Barney DVDs and none of them hold a candle to her "Barney Mother Goose"!
She knows all the words to all the rhymes it completely blows me away the vocabulary she has developed just by watching a little Barney a few times a week!
This is the ultimate "must have" Barney!
